This small canal cruise amsterdam departs from Amstel 178, just steps from Rembrandtplein, and returns you to the same spot an hour later — right where you'll want to be if you're heading out for the evening. The boat takes a maximum of 26 guests, which keeps things sociable without feeling like a floating queue. You'll have a skipper at the helm and a host on board who knows the city well enough to point out what you're actually looking at.
You can book with or without the unlimited drinks package. The standard ticket gets you a seat and the cruise; upgrade and you'll have beer, wine, and soft drinks available throughout the hour. There's no food included, but you're welcome to bring your own snacks if you'd like something to nibble on while you drift past the houseboats and bridges along the Amstel.
The amsterdam boat tour heads out onto the Amstel River and passes beneath the seven bridges — a stretch of the canal network that photographs well but looks even better from water level. The vessel is fully electric and covered, so you're sheltered if the weather turns. Your guide shares stories about the city as you go, the kind of local detail you won't get from a hop-on-hop-off commentary. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before departure, and check-in opens 15 minutes before your time slot. Dress for the weather, and leave the umbrella behind — you won't need it on board.

“So many options to choose from in Amsterdam but we enjoyed this one. It was extremely hot this day but they had water on board and umbrellas to help. We did the unlimited drinks and it was worth it as we both enjoyed 3 beers. It was cool to see the city by boat. Our skipper (forgetting her name) and guide (Stella) were great. Stella is from the states but has been living in Amsterdam a few years now and knew a lot about the city. It was only us and another group of 2 so it was basically a private ride which was really cool as well.”
